Monsoon Has Arrived

Well it is that time of year again the monsoon season has started. If the beginning is any indicator we might actually have a good one this year. I sure hope so. Over night Thursday it rained, again over night Sunday. Then yesterday (the Fourth) it rained in the afternoon. It is welcomed, our daytime highs drop from around 116 down to 103, when the rain starts it drops another 20 degrees. Except now the humidity goes from under 10% to mid 50's. Oh well it only lasts a couple of months.

Now what??

It does create its own issues with the outdoor kitties. Do I try to keep them in all day? Rush home to let them in before it rains? If they get caught out in the rain they may not come in to eat that night. Normally rains start around the time I head home from work. So it is a guessing game as to weather or not I make it. Monday I got home about 30 min before it started, and got everyone in. Then they wanted out until I opened the door. LOL. Later they did venture out but did not go far as you can see in the photos.

Ugly left the yard.

Here in Arizona the ground is very hard and does not absorb the water it mostly just runs off or collects somewhere low. Here are some pictures of my back yard after a short hard rain. I did not get any pics of it on Monday, these are from last year, but it was not as bad. So you can see why they decided to wait for a while before roaming too far.

Look hard you can see the slab the cats were sitting on.
I leaned out the door for this pic.

Just a side note I may not be posting for a while. Still have not caught up with all the bills. I might have to let extras like internet and electricity go for a while. At least until I get the rent caught up. I will find out in the next couple of days if they are going to cut off my services. If I do not post my regular post on Sunday you will know what happened. I hope you all keep safe and happy while I am gone. Best wishes. I hope to be back in a couple of months if it does happen.

  2. Whoa, surely you must have problems with flooding? Yikes!

We're sending you all our purrs and purrayers, hoping you don't lose your basic services like electricity. That's pretty crucial, we think.

    Good luck!

  7. Oh! Mumsy was telling us about when she and Da used to live in Arizona and the water would stand around like that. We decided we'd not like that so much. We are quite happy to be inside :-)
